Lent at Church of the Holy Innocents

LENT AT CHURCH OF THE HOLY INNOCENTS
Jesus’ life and ministry was an incarnation of God’s love for us and an example of how we, too, should live. The Lenten Liturgy asks us to repent of our sins, but reminds us in many ways of God’s love, forgiveness, and mercy. Our opening greeting speaks of grace, and peace, truth, and joy. Our Canticle, known as “The Beatitudes” reminds us of the standard to which we are lovingly, but firmly held. The verse before the Gospel reminds us we can trust in God who is our friend, and the Communion hymn speaks to us of God’s longing for us to return to his loving arms and care. As we hear the Lenten Gospels, may we draw nearer and nearer to God who calls gently to us in this liturgy. Welcome to this sacred space and time.
